Lucille L. Downs, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday April 9, 2022 at her home on Skidaway Island. She and her husband, Harry, retired to The Landings on Skidaway Island in 1991 where she became an active member of Saint Peter’s Church and The Landings community. She loved to golf, travel, summers at the beach in Mantolo ... Martha Hutson Wise, 90, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Memorial Health University Medical Center. The Savannah native was born on March 23, 1932 to the late Ethel Beach and George Washington Hutson. Music was a part of Martha’s daily life until her death.
The lifelong resident of Savannah was born on September 22, 1942, to the late William Odis and Rosa Amerson Whitcomb. Joyce was a longtime employee of the Waffle House. Surviving are two daughters, Terrina, and Tonya; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Gwendolyn Joan Thompson, mostly known as “Gwen,” was the daughter of the late Elrica Hodge and Albert Richardson, born August 20, 1962, in Sandy Point, St. Kitts/Nevis.

Jane was born in Savannah, Georgia, and was the daughter of the late Douglas Arthur and Margaret Melcolm. Jane moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1940, and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. After high school, Jane was employed by The Prudential Insurance Company of America. Jane and her husband, the late Ray Clifton McClain, Sr., were married on February 14, 1953 and resided in Jacksonville from 1955 to 2018. Jane served as a homemaker and stay-at-home mom from 1955 to 1977. Kevin William Sikes, 37, died, Sunday at home in Newington, GA. The Savannah native was a longtime resident of Bulloch and Screven counties.

He was born in Savannah on November 21, 1931, at the old Telfair Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest J. Oetgen, Sr. and Katherine Mays, his brothers Ernest J. Oetgen, Jr. and Frank E. Oetgen and sister, Katherine Woods. Survivors include his loving wife, Susan, of 36 years, sons, Gary , Eric, daughter, Kelley Jeffries, stepson, Hunter Bagwell . He is also survived by his grandchildren, Graham, Ella, Elizabeth, William Oetgen and Makenzie Jeffries, as well as, Pa ... In addition to her parents, Helen was also preceded in death by her husband, Lewis L. Perry and her daughter, Phyllis Lynn Wilkes. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Poole of Augusta; Phillip Perry of Hoschton, Georgia; and Eddie Perry of Cleveland, Georgia.

Dorothy and her husband Paul G. Nicholson moved to The Landings, Savannah in 1993 and enjoyed a long, active, and happy retirement there. In 2007 her beloved husband passed away and shortly thereafter, Dorothy found her new home at The Marshes, a community of friends and staff she treasured. Mary Katherine Nichols, 33, of Savannah, GA died Friday, November 25, 2022 at her home, surrounded by loved ones.
Later, she returned to Connecticut and worked at Uniroyal where she met and married Douglas Thomson in 1951. They lived in Woodbury until retirement, and they remained happily married and devoted to one another for 69 years. Richard “Rabbi” Martin Geriner, Sr., 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. The native and lifelong resident of Savannah was born on February 22, 1940, to the late Henry Butler Geriner, Jr. and Clara Henges Geriner.
Giorgio Magliulo, 80, of Savannah, GA passed away on April 29, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Giorgio was born on January 12, 1942 in Pola, Italy to his parents, Salvatore and Liliana Magliulo. Giorgio graduated as a naval officer from the Italian Naval Academy where he also earned his doctorate degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture. Giorgio served in the Italian Navy as a submarine chief engineer. Upon retirement from the Italian Navy, Giorgio continued to cultivate his passion for ships and submarines by working in the shipbuilding industry in Italy a ... He was born in Savannah, Georgia on January 9, 1932 to Antonio Peter Liakakis and Despena Skelichi Liakakis. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church where he also served as past president. After graduating from Savannah High School, Pete enlisted in the United States Air Force where he trained in Communications. He also worked covertly as an intelligence officer and was a trained bomb disposal expert. James A. Smith, 85, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at his residence.
William Harry Burger, USAF, Lt. Col. Ret., age 88, died June 5, 2022 in St. Mary’s, Georgia. The East Freedom, Pennsylvania native was a long-time resident of Savannah, Georgia. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the American Legion. He enjoyed dancing above all, and was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
